Hemingway’s Amazing Fish Story

 

Old MAn and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. Scribner Paperback Fiction, 1952. Genre: Fiction

This story is about a old fisherman that no one believes could catch a marlin, the fisherman is very poor and lives in a shack. One young boy that use to fish with him takes care of him. The fisherman went out on the ocean to catch fish as usual but this time he has caught a big marlin that dragged him farther out to sea. The old man fought this fish for three days. In that three days he had to kill a dolphin to eat it. When he finally caught the fish he strung the fish up on the side of the boat. The old man had to defend the fish from the sharks, the sharks were trying to eat the fish but the old man managed to kill some of the sharks. when he returned to port the marlin was nothing but bone, but the people started to believe in him again.

I picked this review because it seemed like this reader totally understood the life of the story and really appreciated the book. In page one in  the book the author really grabbed the reader. From the first page he immediately went in to the setting / theme of the story i think he did an outstanding job with this book. When i read this book i really could imagine the setting, he put great detail into this book making it easy to understand in connect to.

Another book that i have read that was similar in a way was Hugo Cabret. In the story Hugo Cabret the main character is trying to survive alone in Grand Central Station by himself and he need to fight to stay alive everyday. I thought this was similar because the old man in the book i just read is alone for three days and hes trying to stay alive and he's also fighting everyday to stay alive. These books are similar only in that way the rest of the book it totaly irrelevant to each other.        

On page 38 of the book there is this quote “A man can be destroyed but not defeated” I think this quote means that you can physically hurt a man but mentally / beliefs you can not defeat a man.I really enjoyed this story it shows the tough times that the old man went thru the journey to catch this big fish, how an 84 year old and can still catch a big fish and fight off sharks. this is one of the best book i have read. I would recommend this book to anyone. This book was a solid 4 paws.

The most boring story in the world       -Aquan Myers

He was born in the swamps of somewere. As a child life was hard for me and my mom. we lived in back woods of the swamp, living life of the land. I lived with my mom my dad died when i was four years old i dont have a great memorie about him but i miss him. Not having a dad living in the biou is hard, i had to grow up fast become a man.

When i got older my mom grow weaker and weaker i tryed my hardest get get the money to get her help it was just so hard to find  job. The only job that i had at the time was shrimping and that brought no money in only enuff to pay for food. the year went on, my mom grow more sick and bed bound. I saved enuff money for a doctor to come in and see whats wrong with her. he said she has cancer.

As soon as i herd that i droped to the floor and started to do something. I diddent know what to do i new there was no cure and that she wouldent make it that long all the doctore said was im sorry but theres nothing we can do. So the years went on and my mom had long passed away. It was me by my self living on my own. I couldent stay in the swamp by my self it was to much work for one persion.

I was laying in my bed thinking of places that i could go to restart my life try to make it better. That following morning i started packing my cloths up thats all i thought of bringing my cloths and money because thats all i had. I decided to move to the country buy a small farm with my friend bubba. Bubba is my swamp friend that use to go shrimping with me back in the byu. So we went on a road trip all the way to ohio to start a potato farm. As we were driving there we stoped at a lot of truck stopes to rob the places because we had no money and food.

One time that we robbed a place the truckers werer chacing after us all down the road and almost got us by raming us in to the side of the gaurd rail. We lost them tho because we were riding in a 2013 lambo, were we got that from was from the dollor store. So i went to the bathroom and i was something shiny and big so i went over to it to see what it was and i took the cover off and saw the lambo just siting there and it said one dollar so i took it why it was only a dollor i have no clue because there like a almost half a million dollar car. But anyways so we were going so fast down the highway it was crazy, we were going so fast that the cops also chasing us got lost in traffic.

So there we were on the road going like 230 mph. Back to the main story. Finally we ended up on are farm that we bought it was beat down and there was a pile of dead cows just laying there roting. We new that we needed to clean it up so we paid almost 50 people to clean up and get everything all nice and neat. Lots and lots of days went by the farm got better and better the cows were gone the farm look really good and we have every type of animal you can think of.

And we have so much land for are potato field we started making the land into potato fields. And one day in the summer we were at a restaurant and we got chips with our meal and they were just so awful. when we were talking about that we decided to make are own chips. Knowing that we had more people come and build a new factory and a testing station and lots of people to try them. Now we were the lazy type of guys and we made a whole bunch of money.

Having all that money put us in a good place now instead of us trying to make the new best chips, we could just hire people to make them for us! all these people tried to make them for us but only one guy was able to make the best chip ever. Since he made it in the back of his pickup truck i let him name it. then Eee PC chips were made. All of us went to the city to a big party and when we pulled up in are lambos we walked in with two chainz and drake. Friends from way far back when we use to live on the street of LA.

On and on we went to each party everyone getting better and better until we ended up at some high school kids party turns out it was the biggest best party of the year they were calling it project Y. After we were there something happened when a guy with a flame thrower came and destroyed the hole place to the ground it was pretty crazy. Ok by this time if you're still reading you clearly know that i really did not write about anything i was just going off of nothing but i need to try to get to a thousand words somehow im also like two days late to turn this in but its all good. so i guess im just going to start talking about some more random stuff.

Ok first i got moved because luis told me to do something on his email mr bg came and moved me but ok so theres this seat that you always get moved if you sit there yesterday it was luis then juni now me. Im way over in the corner listening to steady mobbin a really good song probably one of my favorites rap songs. Yes!! ok so i'm a little over a thousand words now so i can finally stop! ok well i hope you liked my story.

There are a couple of things that mean a lot to me that you can put a price tag on. The most important thing that i can put a price tag on is my cellphone. My cellphonee is my connection to whats going on. With out my cellphone it would be a lot harder to do things. You can talk to people on a cellphone. Its good when people live far away. Also, my cellphone has internet on it. It makes life easier because you have internet access wherever you. I think most people's number one thing of value would be there cellphone. This is the most valued item that I can put a price tag on.
   
    There are also some priceless things that i could not put a price tag on. The most important thing that i can't put a price tag on is seeing my friends and family. I enjoy seeing my friends. I think everyone likes to be with there friends. Friends and faimly are the most two important things that you cant put a price tag on.

Aquans summer reading essay

Main characters: Captain Captain Ahab from Moby Dick and Victor Frankenstein from Frankenstein

It has been seven days since we left port victor and me are sailing to the deppest part of the ocean to find the whail that took my fathers life. victor is with me to find the wail to he will take the wail wonce it is dead and bring it back to his hometown where he was banished and prove to them that he is a great scientist and will bring the life back into the whale. me on the outher hand i am trying to find and kill the whale for my father. back ten years ago my father was out trying to catch this wery whail, it was drak at nighe with a smoky atmosphere he wasd looking port side when he saw the whail he throw the shpere at it and it hit him in the back my dad tyed the rope to the mast hoping to catch it and bring it back to shore, but the whail was strong and broke the mast and jumped out of the water higher than the boat rite down on my dad eating him hole so im here too get venges on that whail. me and victor the next day are out looking for the whail we see no evidence of the whail but we know he is close an olsd sailor told victor that the whail is close when you see the water turn dark dark blue. victor is a smar scientist he new how to fix enething and make evrething. i was out on port one day looking in me telescope and i droped it but he took it rite awaw and fixed up even better than befor. we were both eating dinner one day one sudnely the boat started to shake we ran out to port and automatically know who it was, the whail had his our shipe we quickly grabed are harpoon guns and started to hit it with then. harpoon after harpoon we hit this animal, but it would not stop it just keeped on comeing hit afrer hit are ship wouldent be able to take enemore. what should we do victor askedi i told him the only thing to do was sphere him in the blow hole, i took aim and lunged my harpoon..... direct hit straight in the blow hole, that wouldent come out eney time soon i grabed the rope that conected it and tied it the the most stirty part of the ship. victor ran to the mast and tied up the rope, he went to go stear the ship makijg shure the whail wouldent capsize the ship futher and further in to the bark blue water we went. hopefully the beast would tire out and let us take it, but the fight went on for three days day and night. finally the next morning it started to slow down evenshuly to a stop, and when it stoped we killed the beats. niw its body layed a flot moshinless. victor had the most hard job of them all, he had to jump over bord landing on the whail hoping not to fall off in the shark infested water, tie a lasso around it. and he did like no problem and soon we were off to home. throught the trip home victor was up all nite studing the whail taking samples, he must have been very happy he showed me a small example of the experiment he would do. he took me to his work place and stuck two medal poles in the part of the whail and to my suprize it started to move! i told him that if this emperament works he would be the greatest scientists eaver to walk the planet. Me on the outher hand i got the satisfaction of geting revenge on that whail that killed my father. when we arived at the port there was a small crow of pll waitinh for us. victor and i were in vited to the next town meeting to tell them about are experience. victor and me went are sepret ways he went back to his town and is now the greatest scientists eaver to walk the earth and i here he almost can revive the dead! me on the outher hand went back on my boat to travel the world and find a mises for my self we hope to see each outher in the near futer. well thats are story.
